New Strategy for Ireland

  • The Government e-commerce committee is currently developing a policy and strategy for further implementation of e-procurement.
  • A Government decision on the matter is anticipated later this year.
  • The strategy is based on the eEurope Benchmark model which is based on four levels:
Level 1Development of web facilities for eProcurement
Level 2Development of buyer participation through documentation availability, that is, tender documents
Level 3Development of Supplier participation through tendering capacity, that is, a two-way process
Level 4Full electronic transactions in the public procurement market.

At this stage Ireland has the government portal (etenders) which contains comprehensive information on all tenders being awarded in Ireland in addition to tender documentation. Ireland is aiming for full electronic transactions in the public procurement market.
